There are medications you can take to reduce blood pressure, but if you can find ways to reduce your stress levels, then you can lower your blood pressure naturally, which is easier on your body. Here are some tips for reducing stress:
- Exercise for 20 minutes a day. This doesn’t have to be big, like running or going to a class. It could be as simple as walking around the neighborhood or getting on the treadmill while watching TV.
- Meditate. Meditation is an age-old remedy for stress. This involves emptying your mind and just listening to your breath as it enters and exits your body. As you do this, your muscles will relax and stress will dissipate.
- Laugh. One of the best ways to release stress is to laugh. If there’s a particular TV show that you find hilarious, watch a few episodes. Soon you’ll find that you aren’t so stressed over problems at home or at work.
- Work outside in a garden. Many find working with flowers and other plants to be very soothing. There’s something about feeling the sun on your face and listening to the sounds of birds in the trees. It can be very relaxing.
- Stay organized. Having a home in disarray can cause a lot of stress, such as when you’re trying to find your keys and you can’t find them anywhere. Try to keep your home organized to reduce stress.
Stress can negatively affect your whole body, not just your blood pressure, so it’s important to find ways to reduce stress.
